How important is the role of technology to the music industry?

The role of technology in the music industry now is obviously the catalyst of what is bringing about this huge change within the industry. I think it is a great thing. There's not really that much new that has come through that hasn't been inspired by technology, so technology is so important to music to keep it fresh.

What is a typical working day for you?

I'm a bit here, there and everywhere. It's a little bit hectic, which is sort of how I enjoy it. I feel that within my working day I wear two hats: I wear my Guilty Pleasures hat and then I wear my BBC Kent radio show hat, and I sort of juggle between the two.

You must have met quite a lot of exciting people?

Yes, I have. I've been really lucky in my professional life. I have met a lot of people that are likeminded. Along the way I was tour DJ for Oasis - at the height of their success; I toured with Paul Weller; then, the other extreme, I've been asked by George Michael to DJ at his opening gig at the new Wembley stadium.

At the end of the day it is not going to be the fame that is attached to a name it's going to be: 'are they into this?'

The G-Shock ethos is 'never, never give up.' How can you relate to this?

I very much carry the ethos of 'never, never give up' because there is something more to get out of whatever you apply yourself to, that's how I feel.

How would you describe your professional style?

My professional style that comes through my work is being drawn to things that have a real
attention to detail. I like those little details that you pick up on; they are the things that give you a real connection with whatever you are listening to.

Being a DJ and working with technology, does that help you appreciate the features found in your G-shock?

I'm very appreciative of the technical side of G-Shock watches because I do quite a lot of Djing abroad. I find myself in other countries and other time zones. I do a residency in the Middle East and if I haven't got a watch like G-Shock that adapts to the local time, I get totally thrown by the time difference, which 9 times out of 10 makes me late for a gig.
